The league has been running the Sol since late November when Anschutz Entertainment Group returned its majority ownership stake in the team to WPS.
The potential new owners, who were not named, had vowed to keep the team in Los Angeles and continue to play home games at The Home Depot Center.
The Sol finished the inaugural season of WPS with a 12-3-5 record and 41 points and lost to the eventual league champion, Sky Blue FC, 1-0 August 22 at The Home Depot Center.
WPS announced a three-round dispersal draft will be held February 4 to allow other league teams to select any of the 19 players from the Sol’s roster. Players who signed guaranteed multi-year contracts with the league, like WPS All-Stars Marta and Shannon Boxx, and were allocated to the Sol will be placed with other WPS teams after the dispersal draft to finish out their contract.
The league will have eight teams in 2010 with the addition of the Atlanta Beat and Philadelphia Independence and will maintain a single standings table, as they had last year.
