Major League Soccer’s Kansas City Wizards announced Tuesday they would not renew the contract of midfielder Claudio Lopez, who will leave the franchise after becoming their first Designated Player.

Lopez had 13 goals and 14 assists over those seasons.
Also, the team Tuesday traded their rights to US U-17 midfielder Luis Gil to defending MLS champion Real Salt Lake.
Kansas City won the rights to Gil Monday in a weighted player lottery.
Details have not been released over the terms of the trade.
