Luca Bellisomo scored a goal in the 62nd minute and Marlon James fired off another 13 minutes later as the Vancouver Whitecaps opened their USSF Division 2 Pro League season Sunday with a 2-0 win over the NSC Minnesota Stars at Swangard Stadium in Vancouver.
The win extended the Whitecaps’ winning streak in home openers to nine at 6-0-3 and they have not allowed in goal in those games, outscoring the opposition 12-0.
Vancouver takes on the Miami FC Blues at Lockhart Stadium in Fort Lauderdale Saturday.
The Stars continue their initial road trip this Friday when they meet the Carolina RailHawks at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, NC.
