Jose DeSantiago scored the game’s only point off an assist from Francisco Hernandez in the 73rd minute as the host West Texas United Sockers opened their 2010 United Soccer Leagues Premier Development League season with a 1-0 win Saturday over the El Paso Patriots at Grande Communications Stadium.
The Sockers will have a busy upcoming week with a game at home Wednesday against the Laredo Heat, then a road contest at Pennington Field against the DFW Tornados.
El Paso is off until May 22 when they host the Houston Leones at Patriots Park.
