Schweitzer will join former Charleston Battery and Portland Timbers forward Paul Conway, who was announced Wednesday, in the Player category for 2009.
Schweitzer, who last spent two seasons as head coach of the USL First Division’s Carolina RailHawks (2007-08), is one of six players in league history to play any position and be named six times to an All-League team.
He was named to a team for five straight seasons from 1997 to 2001, then was named again in 2003.
Schweitzer is also one of two at his position to be named the league’s Defender of the Year twice in the 1998 and 1999 seasons.
He began his USL career in 1995 with the Atlanta Ruckus, joined the Carolina Dynamo in 1996, and moved to the Rhinos in 1997. Schweitzer left Rochester for the Syracuse Salty Dogs in 2004, but returned in 2005 for his final season.
He led the Rhinos to two USL1 regular season titles, three USL1 Championships and four USL1 Championship final appearances.
