Major League Soccer’s New England Revolution announced Monday the re-signings of midfielder Mauricio Castro and goalkeeper Bobby Shuttleworth, and the signing of top 2010 MLS SuperDraft pick and forward Zach Schilawski.
Castro, entering his third season with the team in 2010, had four assists in 30 regular season games last season, but will miss the first two games of the new season as punishment for an incident against the Chicago Fire in Game 2 of their Eastern Conference Semifinal series in 2009.
Shuttleworth, in his second season after signing as a free agent in June 2009, was the team’s third string goalkeeper but did dress as a backup to starter Matt Reis when he got hurt.
Schilawski, the ninth overall pick in the draft from Wake Forest, had 40 goals and 20 assists in 99 career appearances with the Demon Deacons.
He finished at Wake with the third most career goals and points (100).
