Real Salt Lake Announces 2009 Award Winners

Major League Soccer’s Real Salt Lake announced the winners of their 2009 season team awards at halftime Saturday of their 3-0 victory over the Colorado Rapids at Rio Tinto Stadium.

MOST VALUABLE PLAYER
D Nat Borchers
- Led team in minutes played and was sixth in the category in MLS
- Missed only 21 minutes of play this season
- Only player to start all 30 RSL games this season, one of five field players and eight overall players to do so in MLS this season, and the fourth player in team history to do it

DEFENDER OF THE YEAR
Jamison Olave
- Teamed with Borchers to allow one goal in 450 minutes of play in August, led team to 3-1-1 record in the month and team had four of season-record 11 shutouts in August

US SOCCER FEDERATION HUMANITARIAN OF THE YEAR NOMINEE
D Robbie Russell
- Donates time to Nothing But Nets malaria awareness campaign and the American Lung Association

BUDWEISER TEAM GOLDEN BOOT AWARD
F Robbie Findley
- 12 goals this season, second-most in a season in RSL history
- Beat his career season-high of eight in his rookie season of 2007
