Chris Pontius scored the first three goals of his 2010 Major League Soccer season for DC United via a hat trick in Thursday’s 3-0 rout of the New Englan Revolution.
It was also the team’s first road win this season and improved their unbeaten streak to three games heading into MLS’ planned two-week=long World Cup break.
The United are 3-8-1 with 10 points and are in seventh in the latest Eastern Conference and will take on the Columbus Crew June 26.
Seattle is 4-6-3 with 15 points and tied for sixth place in the Western Conference standings with FC Dallas (3-2-6). The Sounders will return to conference play at the Philadelphia Union June 27.
