United Soccer Leagues announced Tuesday if a new owner is not found for the Wilmington Hammerheads, the franchise will not be part of the 2010 USL Second Division season.
According to Wednesday’s Wilmington Star News, the company announced it has “discontinued their relationship with the current franchisee” Chuck Sullivan, but did not state the reason for the termination of their relationship.
A specific deadline was also not announced for when a new owner must be named.
The Hammerheads won the USL2′s regular season championship in a tiebreaker over the Richmond Kickers, who won the league championship.
