Defending Major League Soccer champion Real Salt Lake announced they will send midfielder Alex Nino back to the Portland Timbers of the USSF Division II Pro League on another season-long loan and they have cut forward Tino Nunez.
This will be Nino’s second straight season on loan to the Timbers. In the United Soccer Leagues First Division last season with Portland, he had a goal and as assist in 23 regular season appearances, then added a goal in a semifinal playoff series with the Vancouver Whitecaps, also now in USSF2.
Nunez, the 17th overall pick in the 2008 MLS SuperDraft, made three appearances with RSL last season, but also served an extended loan to the Harrisburg City Islanders of th USL Second Division.
In his debut season of 2008, he had one goal in nine appearances, two of which were starts.
