It felt just like old times when Edson Buddle and Landon Donovan, after playing for the United States at the 2010 FIFA World Cup, returned to Major League Soccer’s best team, the Los Angeles Galaxy, and were part of the first goal in a 3-1 victory over the Seattle Sounders Sunday at The Home Depot Center in Carson, CA.
Buddle had his league-leading 10th goal and Donovan his league-leading 10th assist as the Galaxy opened the scoring in the 19th minute.
Juninho later scored his first goal of the 2010 campaign for the Galaxy.
Seattle’s only scoring play came in the 66th minute as Steve Zakauni tallied his fifth goal of the season, then Sounders star James Riley gave the Galaxy their 11th victory of the season on a 78th minute own goal.
The Galaxy lead the league and the Western Conference at 11-1-3 with 36 points and will travel to the New England Revolution this Saturday at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, MA.
Seattle, meanwhile, is 4-8-3 with 15 points and in seventh place in the Western Conference standings. The Sounders host FC Dallas at Qwest Field this Sunday.
