In the first playoff edition of the popular Honda Super Clasico series, Chivas USA and the Los Angeles Galaxy play to a 2-2 draw Sunday in the first game of a Major League Soccer Western Conference semifinal series at The Home Depot Center before a crowd of 25,218 — the largest crowd to ever see a playoff game of either team.
The Galaxy and Chivas use The Home Depot Center as their home pitch. Chivas was the home team for Sunday’s first game with the Galaxy getting “home field advantage” in the second game of the aggregate-goal series next Sunday.
Chivas struck quickly to open the contest as Sacha Kljestan fed a pass to Maicon Santos in the fourth minute, but the Galaxy leveled the score in the 14th minute on an unassisted Mike Magee goal, then took the lead four minutes into halftime on an unassisted Landon Donovan play.
Maykel Galindo brought the game to its eventual final score in the 50th minute on the third unassisted goal of the contest.
