John Thorrington and Cuauhtemoc Blanco scored goals as the Chicago Fire advanced to Major League Soccer’s Eastern Conference championship game for the third straight season after beating the New England Revolution, 2-0, in Game 2 of their semifinal series Saturday at Toyota Park in Bridgeview, IL and winning the aggregate competition, 3-2.

It was also the second straight season the Fire made it to the conference title game by beating the Revolution and Chicago is now undefeated in seven hosted playoff matchups with New England. The Fire have also beaten New England for the fourth time in eight playoff encounters.

The Fire will now host Real Salt Lake, who ousted the defending conference and league champion Columbus Crew, by a 4-2 aggregate score in their playoff semifinal, next Saturday at 8 p.m.

The last time Chicago hosted this game, they shut out New England, 1-0, in overtime in 2003.
