Major League Soccer’s Columbus Crew announced the re-signing Monday of forward Jason Garey, the third overall pick in the 2006 SuperDraft out of the University of Maryland, to a four-year contract extension.
Garey led the Terrapins to the 2005 NCAA College Cup Championship and was named the Missouri Athletic Club’s Hermann Trophy winner that year as college soccer’s best male player.
In 61 appearances over four seasons, he started 31 games and has 13 goals and four assists. In 2009 alone, he nearly reached career-highs in goals (four) and assists (two) in 15 games.
