Cougars Win First Shootout In PASL History Over Sockers

By a 2-1 score, the defending Professional Arena Soccer League champion California Cougars won the first shootout in league history in a 7-6 victory over the San Diego Sockers Saturday at Stockton Arena.

Despite the loss, Sockers star Kraig Chiles had a hat trick to increase his goals scored total this season to 30.

The Sockers, who lead the league’s Western Division at 11-2, have a magic number of one to clinch the division title in their debut season. San Diego faces Premier Arena Soccer League team Revolucion Tijuana in their next two games — at Tijuana this Friday and at Del Mar Arena February 26.

The 11-4 Cougars, in second place, host the Edmonton Drillers of the Canadian Major Indoor Soccer League, February 25.
