The 2009 Professional Arena Soccer League champion California Cougars will defend their title at the upcoming North American Championship tournament March 12-14 at Del Mar Arena in San Diego, CA as they won their second straight Western Division title with a 9-6 win over the Edmonton Drillers of the Canadian Major Indoor Soccer League Thursday at Stockton Arena.
The Cougars finished the regular season with the same record as last season — 12-4.
Enrique Tovar, California’s leading scorer, had a hat trick and Nelson Santana had two goals and two assists in the victory.
