Del Rio’s rights were acquired from the former Los Angeles Sol franchise for a third round pick in this year’s WPS Draft.
She has scored six goals so far this season for FFC Frankfurt in Germany’s Frauen-Bundesliga and spent the previous two seasons in the United Soccer Leagues W-League with the FC Indiana Lionesses.
In 2009, she was the team’s leading goal scorer with 18 and added four assists. Del Rio was named to the league’s All-League and All-Central Conference, as the Lionesses captured the Midwest Division title in the conference.
Del Rio earned team top scoring honors in 2008 with 15 goals and 13 assists as she led FC Indiana to the Central Conference championship.
Fabiana spent the first few months of the 2009 season rehabbing an anterior cruciate ligament injury suffered while playing for a Brazilian club team.
The ninth overall pick in the 2009 International Draft started the final seven games of the WPS season and played a total of 480 minutes.
